What is ISN?

The Inclusive Schools Network (ISN) supports inclusive teaching/learning in Quebec's English School Boards.

Its key premise is that all learners are members of the school community, and profit from challenge/enrichment.

Emphasis is placed on continuum- based (developmental) approaches, those that promote high instructional standards for all learners.

ISN Resources

Please note that ISN resources are not mandated/created by the MELS. Rather, these complementary tools are designed and released by ISN's Coordinator (Lynn Senecal, Ph.D.) as a service to Quebec teachers.

MELS (DPP-SCA) supports access to these non-profit resources; however, their use is not required.

All open-access templates may be downloaded for non-profit classroom use.  They may not be modified, re- posted, or used commercially. (Rule of thumb: Lynn earns nothing; nor should you!)

To ensure understanding/rich use of more complex tools, access to some areas of the website is restricted to Quebec teachers with ISN training.  A list of local trainers is available here.

Welcome to Shapes of Mind, the online resource center of the Inclusive Schools Network (ISN).

All open-site teaching/learning resources may be downloaded for non-profit classroom use.  Resources may not, however, be modified, distributed beyond the classroom, or posted on other sites, and are not to be used commercially.

To ensure rich understanding/use of more complex resources, access to password-protected areas is restricted to Quebec educators who have received provincial- or Board-level professional development.  A list of local contacts is available here.

Please note that ISN resources are not developed or mandated by the Ministry of Education, Leisure, and Sports (MELS).  Rather, these inclusive resources, developed to support the Quebec Education Program, are designed/released by the author and rights-holder (Lynn Senecal) as a service to Quebec teachers.  MELS (DPP-SCA) supports access to these non-profit resources; however their use is not required.  (If they're of help, you're most welcome; if not, no imposition.)

As a service to teachers seeking additional information and educational resources to support inclusion, links to potentially useful external sites are provided on Shapes of Mind (SoM).  SoM has no commercial ties to these sites/organizations.  ISN does its utmost to ensure that information on linked pages is accurate/reputable, but cannot be responsible for content (e.g., changes, other pages, third-party links) on these independent sites.
