Shapes of Mind is the website of the Inclusive Schools Network, one of six Centers of Excellence of the Inclusive Education Service.
ISN helps Quebec's English school boards to develop effective service frameworks for inclusive schools, offering
information,
professional development, and
classroom resources.
ISN emphasizes developmental (continuum-based) approaches—those that promote high teaching/learning standards within today's diverse groups. A key premise is that all learners are members of the intellectual community, and benefit from developmentally-appropriate challenges.
ISN is coordinated by Lynn Senecal, Ph.D., Educational Psychologist. Lynn has a particular background in (and love of) reading and writing. Her specialties are literacy and language development—both typical and atypical. She is an avid reader of children's and YA literature, and believes strongly in the power of the sciences to engage and inform young readers/writers.
